(516) 794-9303nassaucoliseum.com

$TBA

Though Britney has already bestowed big singles “Hold It Against Me” and “Till the World Ends” upon us, the anticipation now turns to the Femme Fatale tour, which also includes electric pop star–rapper Nicki Minaj. From what we’ve heard so far this year, one thing’s clear, Gagas, Rihannas, and Ke$has of the world—Britney wants her crown back.
New Meadowlands Stadium, Tomorrow – Sat 12:30pm; May 01 12:30pm. Ending: Sun May 01 12:30pm 50 NJ-120

$30–$130

The annual hip-hop/emo-pop extravaganza rolls back into town with a lineup to make an excitable, boozed-up teenager puke. Okay, so that’s gonna happen anyway, but still. Lil Wayne heads up the hip-hop axis, which also features Amber Rose’s current squeeze, Wiz Khalifa, and the excellent Waka Flocka Flame; while emo kids in hoodies can pump fists along to Dashboard Confessional and 30 Seconds to Mars. Also promised: the B-Boy Battle and the “BoozleTwist” interactive media program (it’s okay, the kids understand it).

Last year’s intoxicating debut by Diddy–Dirty Money, Last Train to Paris, demonstrated that years of extramusical celebrity haven’t diminished the omnipresent hip-hop mogul’s studio know-how. Now Diddy’s out on the road with the ladies of Dirty Money in an attempt to prove he can still hold the attention of concertgoers, too. He recently told Billboard that the group’s live show will utilize visual representations of Last Train’s numerous guest stars, but you can bet that on a Friday night in Manhattan, at least some of them will show up in the flesh.

Roseland Ballroom; Wed 13

With two No. 2 singles—and three more in the Top 10—Ke$ha unquestionably owned 2010. But this year, Britney Spears is back with a strong new album that threatens to relegate the “TiK ToK” singer (along with her post-Britney dance-pop peers) to second-banana status. Consider it a sign of Ke$ha’s market savvy that she managed to snag a cowriting credit on “Till the End of the World,” the stadium-disco stomper that opens Brit’s Femme Fatale. We probably won’t be lucky enough to hear Ke$ha’s take on that gem tonight, but reports from the road indicate that she’s closing shows on her first headlining trek—it’s called the Get $leazy Tour—with the Beastie Boys’ “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (to Party!).” Sounds about right.

Salt-n-Pepa’s Legends of Hip-Hop Tour with Doug E. Fresh + Big Daddy Kane + Kool Moe Dee + Kurtis Blow Critics' Pick

$44.50–$75.50

There’s something ever so slightly funny to us about the thought of attending a show by early hip-hop acts at a hall better suited to symphony orchestras—can the PBS special be too far away? Still, no denying that these performers represent history, plain and simple; come out and show some respect.
B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, Today 8pm. 237 W 42nd St (between Seventh and Eighth Aves)

Turn around, bright eyes! Maybe it won’t be just moms and dads crowding this show—hipsters, too, have recently come around to the ’80s genius that is Bonnie Tyler. Expect the gravelly voiced Welsh singer to belt out such classics as “Holding Out for a Hero,” and “Total Eclipse of the Heart” tonight.

Last summer, Liz Phair snuck out Funstyle, her first studio disc since 2005, by posting it on her website with zero advance notice. It was an uncharacteristically quiet way for this media-savvy hypemeister to unveil new work, especially given the wacky, in-your-face experimentalism of Funstyle. In addition to Phair’s signature guitar-pop sound, she includes dalliances with synthed-up electroglam (“Smoke”), laid-back soul-funk (“My My”) and bhangra-accented hip-hop.

UD - A Duet of ’80s Powerhouses
TOTALLY ’80S
A Duet of ’80s Powerhouses
Once upon a time, Tiffany and Debbie Gibson were two of the biggest pop icons on the planet. That time: not now. Regardless, this one-night-only duet may still be a watershed musical moment. Either that, or the easiest Where Are They Now story ever.

The legendary Staten Island rap crew that includes the renowned solo artists Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and RZA—who now pops up in movies just as often as he does on hit records—comes to Times Square tonight for this year-end bash. What needs to be said outside of “Wu-Tang Clan ain’t nothing to fuck with”?
