The TransParents Project began several years ago with three couples gathered around a dinner table to discuss their transgender children. Now a much larger group, with members from New York City and surrounding areas, we come together under the auspices of PFLAG NYC and the JCC. or what stage of transition he/she is in, please join us to meet understanding friends, share important information, and to get

Getting Reel About Youth & Gender

Join Ma’yan, The JCC in Manhattan, Gender Spectrum, Scenarios USA, Keshet, PFLAG NYC, and Congregation Beth Simhat Torah for an evening of exploration of gender, with a focus on gender non-conforming youth, through the films of The Youth and Gender Media Project and Scenarios USA. We will be joined by Joel Baum, Education Director of Gender Spectrum , and youth filmmakers from Scenarios USA. A lively discussion will follow the film screenings. This program is for parents, educators, and really just about anyone who wishes to understand and learn more about issues of gender, youth, family, and liberation.

Ma’agal: The Nehirim Womens’ Group

A new support group for Jewish women facing questions of sexuality, gender and religion. The group is primarily oriented toward lesbians, but all women are invited to participate. Each meeting is facilitated, and includes sharing and discussion. Most meetings will also feature a guest speaker. Confidentiality, support, and compassionate listening are central values.

Spread holiday joy to our city’s underserved children. Donate a new, unwrapped toy for a child in need whose mother receives services of Sanctuary for Families, a nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to serving domestic violence victims and their children.

Join hundreds of GLBT Jews, partners, and allies for a community-wide Shabbat dinner, sponsored by Nehirim, Congregation Beth Simchat Torah, the JCC in Manhattan, He’Bro, and other cosponsoring organizations, coinciding with the 8th night of Chanukah.

The dinner, strictly kosher and catered by the Village Crown, will be preceded by services at CBST (beginning at 7pm), and followed by a tisch (shabbat celebration-starting around 10:30pm).

Pricing is $35 base rate, $25 discounted rate, and $45 supporter rate.
