THU 17 DRESSIN’ UP FOR FESTIVUS
If you’re over Christmas and Hanukkah, celebrate the Frank Costanza–inspired holiday, Festivus. Air your grievances (per the Festivus tradition) at the open bar from 9 to 10pm; afterward you can down $2 shots, $4 beers and $5 mixed drinks while jamming to live bands. SUN 20 ADVENTSINGEN
Bavarian brew house Zum Schneider hosts this Christmas sing-along, led by owner Sylvester Schneider. Arrive early to snag a seat and a stein ($5–$14); then grab a book of German and English carols and sing your heart out. TUE 22 CHAMPAGNE MASTER CLASS
Find the perfect holiday tipple at this dinner and guided champagne tasting. Sommelier Jean Luc Le Dû has selected seven bottles to represent the spectrum of French champagne, from vintage Cristal to examples made from pinot noir grapes. THU 24 MATZO BALL
Those gearing up for a solo Jewish Christmas (see “Chinese Food and a Movie”) will appreciate this mixer, sponsored by JDate.com. Single twentysomething MOTS are the desired demographic, but couples and non-Jews are welcome to mingle over $12 martinis and $7 pints. BERRY PARK
Expect a cover-free night of live DJs and hot mulled wine to complement the 15 taps at this bi-level beer hall’s NYE bash. This throwback bar stays true to its relaxed roots with a no-cover party that promises to rock well into the wee hours. Let your freak flag fly at this Coney Island–themed club above Bowlmor Lanes. Ring in 2010 with 1890s style at this Cobble Hill cocktail fortress.
